Title: You and Parkinson’s – An Animated Patient's Guide to Parkinson’s Disease

Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of patients and caregivers affected by Parkinson’s disease.

Developers:

• Jointly provided by the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and Prime Medic Inc., in collaboration with Postgraduate Institute for Medicine.
• This activity is supported by independent educational grants from: AbbVie Inc. and Acorda Therapeutics Inc.

Learning Objectives:

• To enhance communications between Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients and their caregivers by increasing understanding of the complexities of their disease, its risk, its symptoms, therapeutic options, management strategies, and health outcomes.
• To explain and contrast the complex evidence-based clinical data and scientific concepts of Parkinson’s disease. Provide greater understanding on the role of different therapeutic agents, deep brain neuro-stimulation, and other interventions – including treatment risks and benefits in disease management – and cover safety issues, side-effects, and the spectrum of management options related to PD.
• To empower patients through effective education on PD to be better partners with their healthcare providers thereby promoting better dialogue between patients and physicians leading to improved health outcomes.
